About the Funding Information Center

The Funding Information Center is a special collection of print and electronic sources of information, operated by knowledgeable staff, serving nonprofit and community organizations in Greene County. It is located at the Library Center, 4653 S. Campbell, Springfield, MO. Make an appointment with a reference librarian to learn more about how the funding information center can help your organization. The Center contains print and electronic information on grants and foundations, government grants, corporate philanthropy, fundraising, and nonprofit management. Electronic resources include the Foundation Directory Online Professional, Foundation Grants to Individuals and selected Internet sites.

To assist nonprofit and community organizations in gathering information to increase their effectiveness in serving human needs, promoting civic and cultural life, preserving the environment, and strengthening neighborhoods and organizations.

History & Partnerships

The Funding Information Center was started in 1978 when the Springfield-Greene County Library District became a Cooperating Collection of the Foundation Center. The Foundation Center is a national nonprofit educational organization established in 1956 by foundations in New York City. The Foundation Center's mission is to foster public understanding of the foundation field, which it does by gathering, analyzing and publishing information on private foundations. This information is made available nationally through its 300+ Cooperating Collections, its web site and its publications. The Springfield-Greene County Library District’s Cooperating Collection status gives Greene County residents access to the full range of Foundation Center publications.
