North Springfield Betterment AssociationFounded in 1970, the North Springfield Betterment Association promotes and encourages worthwhile and honorable endeavors which will make north Springfield a better place to work and live. Association memebers strive to alert each other to community needs and to become well-versed and knowledgeable in order to take constructive action for community involvement.
Meetings are held on the second Thursday of each month at 11:45am in the Cox North - Fountain Plaza Room, 1423 N. Jefferson. The cost is $8.00 and includes a hot buffet lunch, followed by a community-oriented program. Each month, speakers are invited to present informative programs on topics related to the vitalization of north Springfield.
NSBA members support the Elementary School Attendance Program that places an emphasis on staying in school. Quarterly incentives and an annual party are conducted to recognize the students in the fourteen north Springfield schools who have had 99-100% attendance during the school year.
Each month a beautification award is presented to the owners of a commercial and a residential property in north Springfield, recognizing the efforts of an individual, family, organization, or business in improving the appearance of north Springfield.
The organization awards scholarships to selected graduating seniors of Central and Hillcrest High Schools.
Membership is open to all. Annual membership dues are $45 ($10 for retired persons).
