The Library is Kid Friendly!
Encourage your kids to get their very own library card to use when visiting any of the nine branches or the bookmobile of the Springfield-Greene County Library District. With a Library card, children can journey to every country in this world--and out-of-this-world, too. They can visit yesterday, today and tomorrow.
Kids, ages 17 and under, can sign up for a Library card without their parents
if they can complete the registration form, including their name, address,
phone number, birthday and parents' name.
Kids who sign up for a Library card will receive a button to wear and a postcard in the mail congratulating them on opening the door to a world of adventure.
There are lots of items available for children to check out such as picture books, biographies, stories, music, toys, videos and even computer games.
As parent or guardian, you are responsible for what your child reads, and for
materials checked out on their Library card. Only three items at time can be
checked out until a parent, guardian or other adult signs the responsibility
statement
on the back side of the Library card, signifying that they will assume responsibility
for items checked out on the card and any applicable fines. The maximum overdue
fine is $1 for each juvenile item (except videos).
