| The Volunteer Book Buddy is responsible
for selecting Library materials for a Walking Books
Patron
who is not able to come to the Library and select the
items for themselves. |

| Responsibilities Include: |
- After reviewing a patron profile of needs and interests
provided by the Walking Books coordinator, the Book
Buddy selects appropriate items for the patron.
- Selections can be made from the collection in the
Outreach Services Department, any of the local branch
Libraries or with a computer over the Internet by
accessing COOLcat, the Library's online catalog.
- Book Buddy selected items are sent to the Outreach
Services Department, in the name of the patron, for
staff to process and package.
- Walking Books patrons receive deliveries of materials
one or two times each month, with items placed on
a hold shelf between deliveries so selection can
be done all month long.

| Requirements: |
- Ability to complete work tasks quickly with accuracy,
consistency, dependability and with little supervision.
- Ability to interact pleasantly, constructively and
cooperatively with Library patrons and staff.

| Physical Demands: |
- Routine lifting of Library materials weighing up
to 20 lbs.
|
| Working Environment: |
- Primarily indoors with heating and cooling regulated
in a general Library environment.
|
| Miscellaneous Requirements: |
- Must be able to pass a security background check,
if applicable.
