VOLUNTEER GIFT SHOP CLERK
 
Position: Volunteer Gift Shop Clerk

The Volunteer Gift Shop Sales Clerk will be responsible for assisting with the receiving, stocking, display and sales of gift shop merchandise.

 

Responsibilities Include:
  • Assisting customers with the selection of gift items for sale.
  • Ringing up cash and credit card sales using computerized cash register.
  • Assisting with the monitoring of inventory and restocking shelves and displays as needed.
  • Gift wrapping of customer merchandise.
  • Assisting with the receiving, unboxing and pricing of new merchandise.
Requirements:
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to interact pleasantly, constructively and cooperatively with customers and staff.
  • Some knowledge of retail sales, or cashiering is preferred. (Some training will be provided)
  • Ability to effectively listen to and respond to customer inquiries.
  • Ability to provide service during times of high customer volume.
  • Ability to follow instructions, and work with minimal supervision.
Physical Demands:
  • Displays good coordination and mobility, and the ability to hear questions from customers and respond appropriately.
  • Ability to stand for moderate duration, ability to bend and stretch and reach shelves.
  • Ability to see numbers on cash register and ability to read prices on merchandise.
Working Environment:
  • Primarily indoors with heating and cooling regulated in a general library environment.
Miscellaneous Requirements:
  • Must be able to pass a security background check, if applicable.
