VOLUNTEER MENDER
 
Position: Volunteer Mender

The Mender will be responsible for the mending and repair of Library materials.

 

Responsibilities Include:
  • Inspects library materials and determines the appropriate method for mending.
  • Repairs and mends books, periodicals, journals, and other library materials using a variety of methods, including the use of a hot glue gun.
  • Mends and repairs library materials.
  • Types and labels library materials.
  • Packages and laminates library materials.
  • Prepares library materials for distribution - stamping, sorting, and packaging.
Requirements:
  • Basic typing skills, 35 wpm.
  • Ability to complete work tasks quickly with accuracy, consistency, dependability, and with little supervision.
  • Ability to accurately perform detailed tasks.
  • Ability to interact pleasantly, constructively and cooperatively with library patrons and staff.
  • Ability to provide service during times of high public usage.
Physical Demands:
  • Displays good hand-eye coordination and mobility.
  • Routinely performs bending, squatting, kneeling and reaching from floor level to 6 feet in height.
  • Routine lifting of library materials weighing up to 20 lbs.
  • Performs daily tasks requiring mobility, coordination and stamina.
Working Environment:
  • Primarily indoors with heating and cooling regulated in a general library environment.
Miscellaneous Requirements:
  • Must be able to pass a security background check, if applicable.
